God’s Truth for Trying Times - 8/23/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: James 3:5b-6

How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell. [James 3:5b-6 ESV] 

CONSIDER: Now or words are compared to a small spark that sets a big fire. And when we misuse our words, and malign others, it ruins our life and is not from God.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
