God’s Truth for Trying Times - 9/25/21

We need God’s truth in trying times. Read the Scripture passage, think about what it is saying, then pray; by yourself or with your household. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly (Col. 3:16).

READ: 1 John 2:9-11 

Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. [1 John 2:9-11 ESV]

CONSIDER: Loving Jesus and your brothers and sisters in the church is proof positive that you belong to God and have been born spiritually by him. On the flipside, if you hate people then you are walking in disobedience to God and it shows that you are blinded. You must repent of your sins and trust in Christ, and in his power do what he says.

THINK: What does this declare about God? What are God’s people being called to do? What assurance is given? How does the Word of God transform our hearts and lives and relationships?
