Loving Jesus and Longing for His Return
Christians who love Jesus must long for His return. Sounds so simple. It is not so common.
I think it's easy for Christian's today to live kind of hoping Jesus won't come back until certain things happen in our lives: marriage, birth of children or grandchildren, certain achievements, maybe even a long awaited vacation or trip. We love this life a little too much sometimes.
And it's easy to long for Christ's return when we have it especially bad in this life. The implication being if things were better Christ can wait but since they're not, come back now Lord Jesus! It always seems my longing increases as troubles multiply.
But might there be another way to live rather than by feelings good or bad? We know there is. It's called living by faith. Knowing Christ's love shown, work done and life given at the Cross heightens our awareness of eternal truths, increases our worship and devotion, and intensifies our love for God and resulting desire to see Him face to face.
All praise to the Lord Jesus Christ. I have been saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in Scripture alone, for God's glory alone. Jesus loves you!
