A Bad Choice

"Lest there be any immoral or profane person like Esau, who for one meal sold his birthright." Hebrews 12:16

Tragically, in our nation and even among some professing Christians, sexual immorality is no longer called sin. Living together outside of a marriage commitment is commonplace. The twin sons of Isaac and Rebekah were certainly opposites. Jacob had his faults, but he did prize the things of God. Esau, to the contrary, chose to gratify his physical desires over spiritual blessings. Perhaps next to Judas, Esau was the most wicked man mentioned in the Bible. He forfeited the permanent on the altar of the immediate. Life is not only a long series of adjustments, it's a series of choices we make. The apostle Paul tells us what to value when making those choices. Phil.4:8; "Whatever things are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report, if there be any virtue or praise, think on these things." Choose wisely!
