A Choice, Whom To Serve

"And if it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15

Joshua proved to be a worthy successor to Moses in leading the nation of Israel. Worshiping other gods had once caused the Israelites to lose their land. Now near death, Joshua summons the energy to address the people he had served faithfully for twenty-four years. Despite the multiple miracles and blessings of God that brought His chosen people back into their land, many were still ambivalent about their commitment to serve the Lord. Calling for a conference of the nation's leaders to Shechem, Joshua urges them to make a choice NOW as to whom they will serve. He could not make the choice for the people, but he could choose for himself and his family. They would serve the Lord. Have you made that choice for your family?
