Bad Things Happen

"Consider and hear me, O LORD My God, enlighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him"; Lest those who trouble me rejoice when I am moved." Ps. 13:3

Godly leaders always face opposition. The higher up the spiritual office and fruitfulness, the greater the opposition. One cannot move without creating friction. David is mistaken in thinking he has lost God's favor. Nearing the pit of despair, he is fearful of 3 terrible things happening to him unless God comes to his rescue. 1, being defeated by his enemies; 2, having them rejoice that he has moved from his unshakable faith in God; or 3, possibly being killed. All servants of the Lord are subject to discouragement, even David, "the man after God's own heart." When those moments come to you, do as David always did - seek the Lord's help and perspective on what troubles you.
