"Oh Lord my God, in you I put my trust; save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me, lest they tear me like a lion, rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver." Ps.7:1-2 NKJ

David sings to the Lord this song of praise in his desperate appeal for help. His unnamed persecutors are mercilessly attacking him and on the crest of victory. Unless God intervenes, his enemies will destroy him as a lion would tear apart its captured prey. As he sings, his confidence in God grows into full assurance of the Lord's deliverance. As believers living in America, we currently suffer little that could be called persecution for our faith in Christ, but there are signs on the horizon that that will change. In years to come the enemies of Christ and the cross will intensify their attacks on Christians. Like David, our trust must also be in the Lord.
