God's No Of Love
"For this thing I pleaded three times with the Lord that it might leave me.†And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you; for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Most gladly therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." II Cor. 12:8, 9 KJV
The "this thing" from which Paul sought relief was the "thorn in the flesh" God had given Him to keep him humble following his third heaven experience. Paul's urgent pleas to be healed from daily unrelenting pain were denied. God's emphatic "no" was (and always is) a "no" of love. Tied to God's "no" was a promise that He would give Paul daily sufficient grace to bear the pain and thereby perfect His strength in place of Paul's weakness. You also will find His grace sufficient. God knew what was best for the apostle Paul, and He knows what is best for you. Do you have a daily chronic painful condition that the meds don't completely cover? I pray Paul's response will be yours, gladly taking pleasure in suffering that the power of Christ may rest upon you.
