Keep Up Your Courage

"And now I urge you to keep up your courage, for there shall be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship. For this very night an angel of God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood before me." Acts 27:23, 24

During his trial at Caesarea, Paul had made his rightful appeal to Caesar at Rome. Paul, being a Roman citizen, was granted his appeal. The ensuing voyage was met with a horrific wind storm. Finding no safe harbor to ride out the storm, the huge ship laden with wheat and 256 passengers was sure to capsize and sink. All aboard the imperial grain ship had given up hope and expected to lose their lives to the sea. This did not happen because Paul had an angelic visitor during the midnight watch with a message from God, assuring him and all on board that their lives would be saved. In a time of great peril, God need not send you an angelic messenger to assure your safety. Belonging to Him, obeying His written Word, and serving Him bring that assurance.
