Leaving Most Everything Behind

"Now the Lord had said unto Abraham, get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you." Gen. 12:1, 2a

In our modern, mobile society, relocation is a common occurrence with many families. God apparently spoke audibly to Abraham, telling him to relocate to a distant land some eight hundred miles from his home town of Ur. No moving vans here, only oxen-drawn carts and the backs of donkeys and camels. Not told the final destination, Abraham obeys, and leaves behind his father's house, most of his relatives, and his native country. With unwavering faith and trust in God to guide him, he and his entourage are led safely to the Promised Land. He was one of the first to "Walk by faith and not by sight" (II Cor.5:7). God's promise to make from Abraham and his seed a great nation was later fulfilled. You too will be blessed by God as you by faith follow Him on your personal journey through life.
