"He who says he abides in Him (Christ) ought himself also to walk just as He walked." 1 John 2:6

The word "abide" is the writer's word for salvation, so John is addressing professing believers. As believers, how then should we live? The simple, yet profound, answer is to live like Jesus lived. Reflect with me on how He lived. 1. He lived to do the will of His heavenly Father who sent Him. We should follow His example and like David, "Delight to do Your will, O my God" (Psalm 40:8). 2. He lived by looking upon the needs and interests of others as more important than His own. Should that not characterize our lives as well? 3. He labored to the point of exhaustion and ultimate crucifixion to finish the work God gave Him to do. Should we do less in order to complete God's plan for our lives? Selfish living is the sure path to a wasted, unhappy life.
