Love Labors On At Personal Risk

"For indeed he (Epaphroditus) was sick almost unto death; but God had mercy on him, and not only him but me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. Therefore, I sent him the more eagerly, that when you see him again you may rejoice and I may be less sorrowful." Phil.2:27-28 NKJ

Paul had founded the church at the city of Philippi on his 2nd missionary journey. The church had been generous both in its support of Paul and by twice sending money with him for the poor at Jerusalem. Epaphroditus was sent by the church to deliver their second gift of money for the poor and for him to assist Paul in his imprisonment at Rome. The congregation seemed confident Paul would soon be released from prison and make the trip back to Jerusalem. Paul confirms to the congregation that yes, Epaphroditus had almost died serving his needs while under house arrest. Now, well enough to travel, Paul sends his faithful servant back to Philippi. Let us be unselfishly generous in our response to the needs of others.
