Memory Loss

"Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Teach them to your children and grandchildren." Duet. 4:9 NKJ

Moses, in his three speeches here in the book of Deuteronomy, gives further explanation of the law first given at Mt. Horeb. This generation to whom he is speaking was born and reared during the wilderness wanderings. They had seen the miracles and spectacular means by which God led them through the parched desert. Two warnings are given: one, was not to forget what they had seen and experienced from the merciful hand of God; second, constantly refresh those memories lest they depart from their hearts. Lastly, they were exhorted to teach God's truth to subsequent generations. God's word nurtured in your heart, modeled by your life, and taught faithfully will powerfully impact your immediate and extended family for generations to come.
