"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and staff, they comfort me." Psalm 23:4

Those of us who have gone through a near death experience can best appreciate this promise. The threat of death holds no terror for the child of God. Jesus has been there, done that, and after his death, he came forth in triumphant resurrection, victor over death, hell, and the grave. As a consequence, death is only a door through which we enter into heaven. Rest assured that in our deepest trials and darkest moments, "Standing somewhere in the shadows, you'll find Jesus." His rod will protect us from predators and then nudge us along into the safety of His sheep-fold. After a night of rest, He with His staff will lead us on the right path to still waters. How wonderful it is to be the sheep of His pasture!
