No Reason For Boasting

"How he was caught up into Paradise and heard words, about which it is not permitted for him to share. For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth, but I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me." 2 Cor. 4-6 Paraphrase

We may never know the content of what Paul saw and heard when he was taken up into the third Heaven where God dwells. It was an unforgettable experience unique to Paul that had taken place 14 years earlier. He was not only unsure of some of the details he was strictly forbidden by the Lord to share with others what he had seen and heard. As much as he was tempted to boast about that special revelation to his followers, he refrained, knowing full well those same followers would exalt him rather than the Lord. As Christians, we have a propensity to place our leaders on a pedestal from which they can easily fall. The downfall that comes with praise from others is to think more highly of ourselves than we ought.
