Paul's Prayer for Others

"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from Whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named, that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man." Eph. 3:14-16; NKJ

The bowed knee should reflect a surrendered heart. True worship should begin and end with surrender, with adoration, and praise expressed from the heart through the lips. Paul here is not espousing universal salvation, but is referring to the family of God whose members are either in heaven or living on earth. His prayer for the Ephesian believers is that which we all desperately need: "to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man," all by the means of His limitless resources and for His glory alone. As we age, we are very aware that our outer man is perishing and needs daily inner renewal by the Holy Spirit.
