Thomas Brooks graphically defined repentance as "the vomit of the soul". Throwing up is not a good thing right? It is an ambush, a hostile takeover. Revolting, not joyful. It’s like saying the joy of getting a root canals. But how do you feel after throwing up? A bit messy, a little dehydrated, but overall relieved. You feel like a new person! Repentance is not pleasant, but it is good and God wants you to experience its joy. It renews your soul.
