Receiving What One Asked For

"The children of Israel gave an inheritance among them to Joshua, the son of Nun; according to the Word of the Lord they gave him the city which he asked for, Timnath Serah in the mountains of Ephraim; and he built the city and dwelt in it.” Josh. 19:48-50; KJV

Joshua's inheritance in the land was well deserved, as was Caleb's. These two were the only two men over twenty of that first generation who initially crossed the Red Sea to also cross over the Jordon River into the Promised Land. As Moses' successor, Joshua had faithfully served the Lord and the children of Israel for 24 years and was deserving of peace and rest. God saw to it that Joshua was generously rewarded and told the elders to give Joshua the city he requested. The Bible teaches that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart. See Ps.37:4; God has promised not to forget our labor of love.
