"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." Romans 12:1

Before coming to faith in Christ, we presented ourselves as slaves to sin. When Christ has captured our heart, we are slaves to righteousness, with new priorities and new desires. It is reasonable for God to expect us to offer ourselves to Him because He enables that glad surrender. A “living sacrifice” sounds like an oxymoron, but it is absolutely necessary for the child of God. It is the heart’s response to grace.
