“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." Matthew 6:24

A common reason we have trouble with the D-word (Discipleship) is because it is closely related to the L-word (Lord), and we get tangled up in the S-word (Sin) and its deceptive relative, the C-word (compromise). We lose our convictions. We get swallowed up in all the things our culture says will make us healthy, happy, and wise. Discipleship is being different (a counterculture) and interacting with the culture (for the common good). Not serving possessions as a slave, but using what God has given for His work and the benefit of others.
