"Order my steps in Your Word, and let not sin have dominance over me." Ps. 119:133

As he prayed, David well understood the path of victory over sin was to obey. It is not going astray from God's Word, being "doers of the word, and not hearers only" (James 1:22). The Word of God, memorized and cherished in the heart, will keep sin from dominating a Christian's life. Jesus, in His victorious wilderness encounter with Satan, answered each of the evil one's temptations with a quote from God's Word. There is no mystery about how to resist temptation. Allow the Word of God to have control over your heart and mind and it becomes the shield of faith able to resist the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the Devil. Said best, "God's Word will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from God's word."
