The Basis Of Our Hope
"Remember Your word to Your servant, upon which you have caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life." Ps. 119:49-50 KJV
This psalm of praise was one of many sung by worshippers on their climb to the Temple. The unknown author asks the Lord to remind him of His stated and written promises. Every believer and servant of Christ needs frequent reminders of that Word upon which our hope rests. One of the blessings of Bible memorization is that, in times of trials and testings, the Holy Spirit can bring to our memory the appropriate scripture to meet our need. There is nothing equal to the comfort and hope the scripture gives. The Word of God applied re-energizes us to stay faithful in serving Him.
