"That the proof of your faith being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the appearing of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:7 KJV

Gold and the genuineness of our faith are purified by fire. The one is refined by literal fire, and the other figuratively by means of the trials of life. The validity of our faith has to be proven and displayed through testings. This testing process, endured well, says Peter, is more precious than gold because of the praise, glory, and honor it will bring to Jesus Christ at His coming to rapture believers. In other words what the trials produce lives on as an imperishable testimony to the grace and power of our wonderful LORD and Savior. Don't ask God to quench the fire that purifies the gold and proves to the world our faith is real and stands the tests of time and trials.
