Too Few Laborers

"But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to his disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers (servants) are few. Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’" Matt. 9:36-38

When we see multitudes of people around us, do we see them as lost sheep, aimlessly walking through life without a shepherd? Are we moved with compassion to share with them that the Savior has come? Then and now the laborers are too few to deliver the message. What's the answer to the scarcity of the messengers? Prayer. Prayer is essential to the fulfillment of the Great Commission and we must remember "the task ahead of us is never greater than the power of God behind us." Those in the field already delivering the message are the ones who will pray most fervently for more laborers. "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of them who bring good news"(Isa. 52:7a).
