We Too Can Arise And Build

"So I answered them, and said to them, “The God of Heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore, we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.’" Neh. 2:20

One can't move without creating friction, and that is especially true of God's servants. Nehemiah, with a few good men, in the dark of night had circled Jerusalem's city walls viewing the awful devastation. At the break of dawn the current occupier's leaders, Sanballat and Tobiah, descended like vultures upon Nehemiah and his building crew to threaten and intimidate them from laying the first stone to reconstruct the walls. Many are indifferent to the work of the Lord, but some are openly hostile and, in our day, enemies of the cross. Nehemiah's reply to his avowed enemies is what ours should be: "The God of Heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore, we his servants will rise and build."
