"Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." Romans 5:2-5

These verses make it really clear that God produces hope in His children through the process of sanctification. Hope grows through the process. It deepens, it settles into our souls in such a way that we are convinced that God is true, though every man be a liar. We are assured that God is faithful even though people let us down. Not one of His promises has ever failed. He will continue to give us hope.
