Who Gets The Credit?

And the Lord said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, my own hand has saved me." Judges 7:2 NKJ

Although "Bigness" can be a hindrance to the work of God, you would certainly not have thought this true of the incident before us. This story seems to be one of the greatest mismatches in warfare history. The Midianite army camped to the north of Gideon's was comprised of 135,000 men. Gideon began with 32,000, but was quickly reduced to 10,000. His soldiers could see the Midianites' vast army, did not like the odds, many became frozen with fear, and were thus freed to go home. Gideon's army is finally reduced to 300 courageous men with only trumpets and lamps in clay jars as their weapons. God knew the army of Gideon would have claimed glory by taking credit for the victory had they not been reduced to a paltry few. God and His cleverly conceived plan gave them the victory. He can make you triumphant today.
