Whose Servant Are We?

"Now it came to pass after these things that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died being 110 yrs. old." Joshua 24:29

Joshua was one of the last leaders of that conquering generation to die. Age is no barrier to leadership. Joshua had succeeded Moses as leader of God's chosen people at the age of 86. He died at 110. "After these things" refers to the history lesson he had just given them about God delivering them from the Egyptian bondage. The word "serve" is used 15 times in the book of Joshua, and 13 of those times refer to serving the Lord. How long a person lives is only meritorious if one lives a spiritually productive life. There can be no greater commendation than that given to Joshua, "the servant of the Lord." Would others apply that title to you?
