Wise Corrective Discipline

"Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged." "And you fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and teaching of the Lord." Col. 3:21; Eph. 6:4 NKJ

In our modern society “discipline” is a dirty word; and when applied corporeally to our children in most circles, it is considered child abuse. Whatever the method of discipline, it should not be punitive alone, but corrective and followed by love and positive reinforcement. With a rebellious child, the will needs to be broken, not their spirit. Breaking the spirit is an attack on personhood and reduces a child to anger and bitter resentment toward a parent. In the disciplining process, a child should never reach the conclusion the parent does not love him. Bible truth is the best manual on child rearing.
